The West Virginia University School of Nursing offers a Faith Community Nursing course for individuals interested in helping to address the unique needs of faith-based organizations. The professional practice of faith community nursing focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as part of the process of promoting holistic health and preventing or minimizing illness in a faith community.
The nationally recognized faith community nursing course is also open to individuals who work as chaplains, pastors, social workers and others. However, only RNs who complete the course can use the title Faith Community Nurse.
School of Nursing faculty members Angel Smothers, DNP, APRN-BC, and Stephanie Young, MSN, RN will oversee and facilitate the courses.
40 contact hours is being provided by the West Virginia University School of Nursing. The West Virginia University School of Nursing is an accredited as a provider of Nursing Continuing Professional Development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
