Day Retreat: The Spirituality and the Science of Self-Compassion
The Pittsburgh Mercy Parish Nurse & Health Ministry Program is a offering this Day Retreat to faith community nurses, health ministers, clergy, laypeople, and anyone interested in learning more about self-care practices. This retreat begins 8:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast, 9:00 a.m. opening session, simple lunch at noon, and closing prayer at 4:00 p.m. Cost is $55.00 and includes parking and meals. Participants are invited to a time of prayer, solitude, quiet reflection, learning and fellowship. It’s time away from family, work, and ministry responsibilities. A time to enrich one’s soul and embrace a new season…Lent. Our retreat facilitator, Anne Kertz Kernion, has an extensive background in teaching and spiritual leadership. Our retreat theme will draw upon recent findings in neuroscience and psychology, illuminating self-care and spiritual practices that nurture gentleness, kindness, and patience in ourselves. These practices generate deeper understanding of others, enhancing our faith communities, workplaces, families and other relationships.
