Catholic Health’s faith Community Nurse Program and the Parish Nurse Ministries of NY, Inc. Have partnered to offer the “Foundations of Faith Community Nursing” course, developed through the Westberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing in consultation with the National League of Nursing (NLN) and the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center (ANACC). The course explores this specialty practice which combines professional nursing and health ministry.
Developed from the Judeo-Christian perspective, this 2019 curriculum is respectful of, and can be applied to, other faith traditions by exploring their differences and similarities. Some additional areas of discovery include: Practice History and Philosophy, Ethical Issues, Whole Person Health/Healing, along with Loss, Suffering & Greif in the context of a faith tradition. Participant will utilize the nursing process as it applies to the leadership role of an FCN, preparing them to initiate and maintain this health ministry within, and to, the larger surrounding community
This three-weekend, in-person, 34 contact hour format will be taught by experienced professional nursing faculty, along with knowledgeable FCNs & Community Leaders.
