Here in New Zealand omicron is just getting into the community, all through the pandemic NZ has had the benefit of learning from overseas colleagues. I would like to learn from you: what has worked in your churches as this virus has hit your congregations? many thanks, Helen
Sue SteinerI am the nurse for a small congregation of <50. We have only had a few case of COVID-19 in our congregation, since the beginning of the pandemic. So I cannot say too much about Omicron as opposed to other variants. I will say the average age of the congregation is 75+ and the majority is vaccinated. There are a few who have not been vaccinated, but most have extenuating circumstances they deal with each day, which has caused them to shy away from being vaccinated. Like most of us, if we get sick we stay away from others.3 years ago

With the increasing cases from Omicron we have gone back to wearing masks while in our building as we have a K-8 school. We wear them for services also. We also have gone back to singing fewer verses of songs and have blocked off every other pew. We have a large number of vaccinated members and have had a fair number of breakthrough cases. Fortunately we have had only 1 death from covid. Some days I feel like we're going backwards. Show more3 years ago
