Addressing the Challenges We Face in Our Profession Today
The webinar takes place on Tuesday, October 19th at 7 pm Central. 1.5 hours of NCPD (CE) is available for nurses in Minnesota. Certificates of attendance will be available for others.
Description: For the past 18 months of the pandemic, nursing faculty and nurses have experienced tremendous isolation, stress, and trauma. The challenges we face physically, emotionally, and spiritually continue. How do we better care for ourselves and for each other? In this webinar, you’ll receive open, honest conversation and practical tools to strengthen and encourage you in the work you do. We’ll also explore how our connection to each other and our faith can provide much-needed support and presence.
Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:
• Identify the current mental health challenges students, nursing faculty, and nurses are facing.
• Examine the emotions students, nursing faculty, and nurses are experiencing in healthcare today.
• Compare our current needs against Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
• Explore destructive and constructive coping mechanisms students, nursing faculty, and nurses are using to cope.
• Evaluate the spiritual discipline of “lament.”
• Share resources students, nursing faculty, and nurses can use to address the needs we are currently experiencing.
