Through this nondenominational program, participating registered nurses receive continuing education hours, as well as the support and resources necessary to implement a Faith Community Nursing program in their faith community. Established in 1997 by Carle Health, the program has trained over 560 nurses who’ve found joy in serving their faith communities.

Foundations of Faith Community Nursing

Faith Community Nursing imparts close attention to an individual’s spirit, where
praying and addressing spiritual needs are also supported. Individuals, groups, and the surrounding community come to this ministry, at times, feeling hopeless and helpless. The RN who accepts the call is caring, compassionate, and a servant-leader with a strong sense of faith and hope. In return, they receive “…the most rewarding job that God has given me. I feel… like I’m fulfilling my purpose, and the reason I became a nurse.” (MF-2016)
