Our church is in the early stage of starting a Caregivers' Group. We aren't sure what it will look like and we are just now gathering a group of planners. Does anyone have such a group or ministry at your church?

It is difficult for caregivers to get out to a meeting because they need someone to stay with their person receiving care. That can be an issue. Do you have a Stephen Ministry in your church? So we are not sure if this will be some...Our goal is to meet our caregivers where they are and to serve them according to their stated needs. So we are not sure if this will be some combination of a support group, informational workshops, assistance with navigation, education, special care days, etc. Two of us, both parish nurses are starting to reach out to former caregivers for their insight and with the hopes of building a team. Ultimately, I hope that leadership will come from the past caregivers and the parish nurses will provide support. We do have both Stephen Ministers and Grief Share.Show more3 years ago
